Below Zero LAN V7 Recap: Streaming to Save Lives, and Building Community!
Hello from the frozen north of Minnesota and BELOW ZERO LAN. We kicked off the new year with our 7th event, Below Zero Lan V7.
BELOW ZERO LAN and the community gathered with people of all ages participating. Free Geek, an e-waste recycler and PC thrift store, also attended to support the community. They brought retro desktops with games installed, allowing participants to play the original QUAKE in Death Match and Co-op modes. PokeCon also attended, providing Nintendo consoles for attendees to explore.
We partnered with Streamers Saving Lives NMDP. Minnesota Mocha and her friend hosted a charity stream at Below Zero Lan V7, raising over $1,000 for NMDP. Our partner Zotec provided two 4070-powered stream rigs for the event.
The community participated in several tournaments, including SUPER SMASH BROTHERS ULTIMATE, GOLF WITH YOUR FRIENDS, and COUNTER STRIKE 2. The winners received medals as recognition of their achievements. Additionally, participants took part in a trivia contest focused on PC and video game history. Classic games such as LEFT 4 DEAD 2 and TEAM FORTRESS 2 were played, along with UNREAL TOURNAMENT GOTY at 200% speed using the INSTA-GIB mutator.
Overall, everyone had a great time at Below Zero Lan V7. From the new school games to retro games, everyone had a blast. The event was a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern gaming, bringing together a community that shares a passion for gaming, regardless of the era. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie, competitiveness, and sheer joy as participants immersed themselves in the diverse gaming experiences offered. Whether it was battling in the latest hit titles or reliving old favorites, Below Zero Lan V7 truly had something for every gamer.
