LANFest and Voodoo Ranger set sail for San Diego Comic Con 2023!
In a grand collaboration, LANFest and Voodoo Ranger joined forces to create an unparalleled experience for attendees at San Diego Comic Con 2023. As the event unfolded in late July, con-goers were in for a treat with refreshing $6 IPA beers and thirst-quenching $3 waters, courtesy of Voodoo Ranger and Liquid Death. The convention hall turned into a captivating sea of excitement as guests set sail on the San Salvador, a faithful recreation of an early 16th century ship. This vessel was secured by Voodoo Ranger in partnership with the Maritime Museum.
From July 20th to 23rd, the majestic San Salvador became the centerpiece of the harbor behind the San Diego Convention Center, captivating everyone’s attention. This magnificent vessel played host to a lively group of rowdy pirates, brought to life by LANFest, who provided non-stop entertainment throughout the weekend. The pirate crew, accompanied by a mystical fortune teller, talkative parrots, and a mischievous monkey, enchanted guests with their swashbuckling antics and playful charm.
As the festivities unfolded, the Voodoo Ranger pirate ship welcomed up to 60 adventurers at a time, ensuring an active bar stocked with an enticing array of Voodoo Ranger IPAs. The best part? All proceeds from this exhilarating experience were directly dedicated to LANFest, whose mission is to build healthy communities through the power of gaming.
Amidst the thrill of San Diego Comic Con, the Voodoo Ranger crew and LANFest’s spirited pirates celebrated their triumph with heartfelt joy. Together, they surpassed their fundraising goal, raising over $20-thousand for LANFest, empowering communities through the incredible world of gaming. It was a true testament to the power of camaraderie and a shared passion for gaming, forging a positive impact in the communities they serve!
As the eve of the convention came, the Voodoo Ranger pirate ship set sail, leaving a trail of unforgettable memories. But fear not! The ship’s crew promises a triumphant return next year at San Diego Comic Con 2024. Once again, they’ll embark on a thrilling adventure, bringing pirate-filled weekends and delicious IPAs for all to enjoy. The spirit of Voodoo Ranger and LANFest’s partnership will continue to shine brightly throughout the rest of 2023 as they continue to partner in celebration of LANFest’s 21st Anniversary! Throughout the rest of 2023 you can donate $50 to LANFest and receive a LANFest pint glass and certificate for a free 6-pack of Voodoo Ranger IPA as a celebration of 21 years of gaming!
About LANFest Celebrating 21 Years of Gaming
In 2002, a group of 20 people got together to play video games at the Intel campus in Washington State. This was the first LAN (Local Area Network) party that LANFest hosted. This small group soon became 700 people at the first site, spanned across several states at multiple sites, and now has over 400 volunteers helping build healthy communities across the US. LANFest discovered a deep sense of community that can be found in all types of gaming; PC, console, VR, tabletop, and mobile.
Over 20 years later, LANFest now spans 16 states with 21 chapters. LANFest chapters are composed of local volunteers working to build healthy communities through gaming for everyone. You can expect to see families playing together at a LANFest event, educational panels and workshops, and fundraising for local charities.
With more than 4 million volunteer hours and 21 years of gaming, LANFest strives to build healthy communities through gaming. Join us in that celebration and help us continue to build community HERE!
About Voodoo Ranger
Voodoo Ranger isn’t just one beer; it’s an impressive collection of IPAs crafted by New Belgium brewery. The journey began when their original beer, Ranger IPA, had reached its peak in the market. In response, New Belgium introduced the Voodoo Ranger series in 2017 to make a bold reentry into the IPA category. The initial lineup featured Voodoo Ranger IPA and Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA, followed by the release of Voodoo Ranger Juicy Haze IPA a year later. Since then, the Voodoo Ranger family has grown to include around 20 unique and delightful IPAs, each with its own distinctive flavors and characteristics.
About San Diego Comic Con
Right from its inception, the show’s founders had a vision to embrace not only their love for comic books but also other forms of popular art, such as films and science fiction/fantasy literature. With a few name changes along the way, the event officially became the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in 1973. Later, in 1995, it transformed into Comic-Con International: San Diego (CCI), reflecting its nonprofit status.
Over the years, Comic-Con has welcomed a plethora of special guests, from comics creators to science fiction and fantasy authors, film and television directors, producers, writers, and artists from various art forms. Its Exhibit Hall has seen an impressive array of comics and book publishers, delighting an ever-growing audience. As it enters its second half-century, Comic-Con International remains steadfast in its dedication to promoting the love of comic books and comic art, solidifying its position as the world’s premier convention for popular arts and storytelling.
