One week to go!

February 8, 2013

Gamers for Giving 2013 is only a week away! Here's a list of recent updates since our last email...

  • LAN - SOLD OUT: Tickets for the Gamers for Giving 2013 BYOC LAN are sold out. We are working with Eastern Michigan to explore the possibility of adding more seats. If additional openings become available, an announcement will be posted on the LANFest web page.
  • Halo & COD passes still available : Passes for both the Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 tournaments are still available. If you have not yet purchased your pass, we HIGHLY suggest you move quickly to do so. As of this email, both events are at 50% capacity. Statistically, over the years we've seen as much as 70% of registration occur a couple days before the event! Translation: purchase your pass while there's still time!
  • Prize Pools: Prizes for League of Legends and StarCraft 2 have been posted, bringing the total prize pool of Gamers for Giving 2013's headline tournaments to almost $7,000! The team to take 1st place in League of Legends will be awarded $1,000, and 2nd place will receive $500! For StarCraft 2, $500 will be awarded to the player who finishes 1st, and $250 to the player who finishes 2nd.
  • COD Changes: We'll be adopting the MLG settings for next weekend's tournament. Main difference: more map selection! A new PDF file has been uploaded to the Tournaments page, which can be found here.  Also, players will no longer need to bring their own game discs to Gamers for Giving as previously stated in our tournament settings. Treyarch was kind enough to send us 32 copies of Black Ops 2 for next weekend's tournament!
  • Food: Vendors will be available on the first floor of Eastern Michigan's Student Center if you would like to purchase food / snacks during the course of the weekend. Operating hours can be found on the Event Info page under Travel / Hotel / Food.
  • LIVE Stream: Gamers for Giving 2013 will be streamed LIVE in partnership with Kona's Korner Productions. The stream will be view-able throughout the weekend atTwitch.tv/LANFest. A full schedule of the weekend's activities will be posted at some point next week.
  • Axeltoss: Professional StarCraft 2 commentator Alex "Axeltoss" Rodriguez will be making the trip from the offices of Major League Gaming in New York City to join Gamers Outreach supporters at Gamers for Giving 2013! A full bio of Axeltoss' previous notable casts can be found on the Event Info page of the Gamers for Giving website.
  • More Partners: Gamers Outreach is proud to welcome new  partners to Gamers for Giving 2013! Envy Gaming GearTreyarch, and Beyond Gaming join our line up of first time supporters at this year's event!
