GFG 2013 Updates!

January 22, 2013

We’re less than 4 weeks away from Gamers for Giving 2013! Since launching registration, we’ve made a number of updates and announcements regarding this year’s event. Below you’ll find a summary of things you can expect during the big weekend!

  • Registration: Tickets to participate in this year’s activities are limited. If you plan on attending Gamers for Giving, we recommend you move quickly to secure your place at the event by registering online. While we will be accepting registration onsite, pre-registering online is the only way to guarantee yourself a spot in the event.

  • Hotel: If roughing the weekend with a sleeping bag or inflatable mattress doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti Hotel has rooms available for an advanced purchase rate of $114.00 during the night of February 16th. The hotel is in close proximity to the venue (5 to 10 minute drive), and is conveniently located a half mile from I-94. A link to the hotel website can be found here.

  • Special Guests: We’ve updated the Special Guests section on the Event Info page. Swing over to read up on who’ll be attending this year’s event from the industry!

  • Game Settings: Settings for all of our headline tournaments have been posted on the Tournaments page of the event. A note for those planning on competing in COD: we’re looking into adding additional maps to the rotation. Stay tuned.

  • Schedule Change: Due to a large amount of feedback from local LoL enthusiasts, the Gamers for Giving League of Legends tournament will now take place over the course of both Saturday AND Sunday. The first half of the tournament will begin along with the LAN. The remaining portion of the tournament will finish on Sunday. You can reference the event schedule on the Event Info page for more details.

  • LAN Activities: A list of the casual activities, servers, and other tournaments we’ll be hosting during the course of the LAN has been posted on the Event Info page.

  • Partners: Gamers Outreach is proud to welcome new and returning partners to Gamers for Giving 2013! Astro Gaming, Best Buy, Kona’s Korner, 343 Industries & others will be joining us in support of this year’s fundraising efforts!

We’re working hard behind the scenes to make this year’s event an incredible experience! A number of other surprises are currently in the works. Be sure to stay up to speed on the latest news by checking the LANFest landing page at http://www.GamersforGiving.org! We hope to see you at Eastern Michigan University on February 16th & 17th!
